Zorro and the Hindraf group went to the PM Hari Raya Open house yesterday to openly ask the PM to set all the ISA detainees free. Malaysiakini also reported about it
here. Many are doing their parts to pressure the government to release all the ISA detainees as well as to repeal the ISA Act.
I could not join them yesterday but I joined the team from Penang this morning for the trip to Kamunting to convey Raya greetings to the ISA detainees.
First I would like to thanks the owner of car P##1028 (forget to ask for her name)who gave me a free ride too and fro. I also requested a favor from Irene and Steve to send me photos of the trip which I will upload once I receive them.
Our journey started off from E-Gate at around 9:30am with a convoy of about 12 cars. A little surprise for us, the organizer did not provide any further information's or instructions so we just marked one of the car's and followed till we reached the toll exit to Taiping.
We stopped at the toll plaza which was suppose to be the meeting point and saw other cars coming in from KL and else where. There were some who came in their super bikes and vans. At this point, I estimated there were about 150 of us. We then proceeded to the Kamunting Detention camp. Due to a few traffic lights, some got lost along the way but they did found their way to the camp albeit a little late.
When we arrived, there were already another group outside the gate. Traffic police were guiding the flow of traffic in front of the camp and we can only see a few police on duty.
Reporters were there busy snapping photographs and a large crowd surrounded Marina Lee. Many bring along flowers, raya cards and gifts and presented them to Marina Lee. For the whole hour Marina was busy having her photograph taken together with the visitors. I managed to get a shot as well and asked her to stay strong. Marina Lee did mentioned that she will be at the camp every Saturday and should anyone wants her to drop by at Penang she is willing to accommodate them. She jokingly stressed that after so many press interviews and talks , she will soon be able to give ceramah speeches as well.
The group of about 300 then sang "We Are The World" and "Selamat Hari Raya", followed by shouts of "FREE RPK", "FREE HINDRAF 5" and "MANSURKAN ISA".
The police were very polite and mingled with the crowds, while the traffic police were busy directing traffic. Kudos and thank's to them for not interrupting the gathering till the end.
