Malaysiakini - Ahmad-bashing continues, DPM Apologise

Ahmad, the relatively unknown division chief of Umno Bukit Bendera division, burst into the limelight last week for allegedly describing the Chinese here as immigrants squatting in Malaysia and as such, said they should not expect to be treated equally, Malaysiakini reported.

"MCA Youth said it wants an apology from Mr Ahmad."

"It's insensitive to talk about other races like this. We want him to retract the statement and we will demand an apology from him,' said Dr Wee."

Every Malaysian Chinese is offended by this seditious statement and the question is "should he just apoligise" and everyone is happy about it or has he committed a crime that the law must be applied?

The DPM surface himself and apologise on behalf of UMNO.

"We apologise, Umno apologises although it is not our statement but it is a statement made by one of our division leaders. It is totally unwarranted and does not reflect the position and the attitude of Umno or the leadership of Umno. We regret it very much," Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Umno deputy president, said here today.

What I want to ask the DPM is, "Is Ahmad racist statement seditious?" If according to the country law this kind of seditious statement can land oneself into jail through the gracious ISA.

To me Ahmad must be charged and send to jail if found guilty. There cannot be any acception or is the DPM implying that if you are from UMNO you can commit any crime under the law of this country and when you apologise everything is ok?

UMNO leadership is incompetence least to say, by allowing it's members to raise racist remarks without facing any consequences for the past years.

I hope MCA and Gerakan must not let this matter laid to rest by accepting the DPM apology. The law must be applied equally and not the separate laws often used by UMNO to their whim and fancy. MCA and Gerakan must stand up and put a stop to all this nonsense.
